RPM Inc., the holding company for Rust-Oleum, announced the appointment of John J. McLaughlin as a senior vice president.

McLaughlin has led RPM’s DAP Group as president and CEO for 22 years.

Terry Horan, DAP executive vice president of sales and marketing will now serve as president and CEO of that business unit.

Both McLaughlin and Horan will report to Ronald A. Rice, RPM president and COO.

‘Highly Skilled Leader’

In his new role, McLaughlin will be responsible for achieving manufacturing, supply chain, logistical and operational efficiencies at RPM's more than 50 operating companies around the world. He will also lead the strategic connections initiative between RPM business units.

"John is a highly skilled business leader and has been the entrepreneurial force behind DAP for nearly 30 years," Frank C. Sullivan, RPM chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "We look forward to having him put his unique talents to work for RPM on a broader scale as he unlocks value in our operations and drives collaboration between our companies worldwide."

McLaughlin joined DAP in 1986 and held various sales and management positions until being named president and CEO in 1994. He previously was with multinational consumer products company Procter & Gamble and global pharmaceutical corporation Bristol-Myers Squibb. McLaughlin holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from Northeastern University.

Prior to joining DAP, Horan served as president of The Master Lock Company and president and CEO of Robert Bosch Tool Corp., North America.
