Dow Debuts Low-VOC Emulsion Tech

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2015

Dow Coating Materials has introduced a new emulsion technology for flat to semi-gloss interior paint formulations.

The Rovace 10 Vinyl Acrylic Binder is a flexible binder that may be added during the grind stage without adverse effects on property performance, according to the company. Dow said its flexibility also helps in pumping and handling during processing.

For paint contractors, the product offers good spray application and touch-up in starting point formulations, the company said. The technology has good color acceptance and helps paint retailers and applicators match color chips and maintain uniform color appearance under various conditions of paint age and shear stability, according to Dow.

At 55 percent solids, Rovace 10 also is low-VOC using APEO-free1 and solvent-free2 technology, the company said. It also can be formulated to meet MPI specifications #44, #53, and #143.

The product also may be used with a modifier for better applied hiding, enhanced surface appearance and better touch-up, according to Dow.
