New Lab Caters to Oil, Gas Industry

Global laboratory-based testing group Exova has opened its first facility in the northeast United States, according to the company’s announcement Monday (Oct. 12).

The new materials and corrosion testing laboratory, located in Pittsburgh, PA, will provide testing and consultancy services in metallurgy, polymers and coatings.

It will also offer corrosion risk assessment and mitigation, primarily to the oil and gas and industrials sectors.

Located near the Marcellus shale field, Exova expects the new lab to support field inspection and corrosion mitigation for the region through its services and expertise in this sector.

Exova's new materials and corrosion testing laboratory, located in Pittsburgh, PA, will provide testing and consultancy services in metallurgy, polymers and coatings.

“This new investment underlines our commitment to being at the forefront of industrial materials and corrosion solutions,” Gary Brimmage, president of Exova in the Americas said in the company’s statement.

“Offering both testing and advisory capabilities, we are able to support our customers throughout the entire life cycle of oil and gas and industrial assets, helping them to meet their technical and commercial needs.”

The laboratory also extends the company’s advisory services in areas including failure analysis and risk assessment.

The new northeast U.S. facility will be run under the operational leadership of general manager John Ciliege and the technical leadership of corrosion specialist Dr. Mehrooz Zamanzadeh.

Although part of Exova’s oil and gas division in the U.S., the Pittsburgh lab will also work closely with the company’s network of oil and gas, aerospace and industrials laboratories worldwide.
