MSA Debuts Manhole Guard System

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2015

MSA has introduced a manhole guard system in separate components that the company says allows entry into confined spaces while decreasing potential trip-and-fall hazards.

The MSA/XTIRPA system works on tanks, vessels, transformers, sewers and machines. It is lightweight, portable and easy to set up, according to the company.

MSA says the guard system can be set up by one person in minutes. It allows for non-entry rescue of confined space entrant via the system’s Workman Rescuer feature, according to the company.

The system also enables its user to lift and lower personnel and materials via the Workman Winch feature, which the company says eliminates the need for ladders in the confined space.

MSA says the Workman Rescuer; Workman Winch; and the system’s available Davit Arm and Manhole Guard must be purchased separately to create the complete system.
