GBI Seeks Input on Green Standard
The non-profit developer of the Green Globes rating system is inviting the public to comment on its latest draft green building standard.
The Green Building Initiative has released a revision to its American National Standard, known as ANSI/GBI 01-2010: Green Building Assessment Protocol for Commercial Buildings. The current version of the standard was published in 2010.
Work on the updates began in 2014 and has included input from nearly 100 subject matter experts in the green building community through more than 50 public meetings and calls conducted as part of GBI’s American National Standard Institute (ANSI) approved procedures, according to the group.
The revised standard, designated as BSR/GBI 01-201X, is available on GBI’s website along with a public comment form at www.thegbi.org/ansi.
The comment period will remain open through Oct. 26.
The group says the standard will provide compliance requirements for the next version of Green Globes for New Construction expected to be released in 2016.

The draft reflects so many modifications that ANSI advised against releasing a redline version to avoid confusion, Worden told buildinggreen.com.
The updated version introduces a risk-assessment framework for product ingredients in its materials section as well as a new section on VOC testing of indoor air quality prior to building occupancy, according to the report.
