Intumescent Finish for Wood Launched

PyroTech has introduced a two-component, thin-film intumescent coating formulated for existing and new wood structures.

PyroCide Clear is designed to produce a clear to light amber, hard, high-gloss finish that will not bubble, crack or haze, according to the company.

The zero VOC product provides resistance from humidity and water spotting as well as UV rays, the company says in product literature.

Application, Rating

The finish can be applied with a brush or spray and does not require a topcoat, though a topcoat is recommended in areas that may be handled or touched often or subject to high humidity, the company notes.

PyroCide Clear offers a Class A flame and smoke rating, the company says. It has a flame-spread index of 5 and a smoke density index of 15, according to the manufacturer.
