For Sale: Texas-Sized Fixer-Upper

FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2015

MANVEL, TX—Here’s a home where you could live with 45 friends— and no one would have to share a bedroom.

A massive 46-bedroom, 60,175-square-foot brick home located on 15 acres in Manvel, TX, is now on the block for a relatively modest $3.5 million.

The "single-family" home also features a nine-car garage, indoor pool, spa and elevator, according to the listing on the real estate website Zillow.

Unfinished Digs

What’s the catch? It needs some work. A lot of work.

“CONSTRUCTION MUST BE FINISHED OUT!” according to Zillow (emphasis in the original).

Reports say a doctor and his wife started building the structure in 2001. It was intended to serve as a live-in rehab facility for the doctor and his patients but was never occupied.

The attached garage will accommodate nine vehicles.

While it was under construction, the couple reportedly opted to build another (smaller) home on an adjacent lot.

An assisted-living facility has expressed interest in the mega-mansion, according to the Houston Chronicle. But the possibilities for the property “are endless” as the area is not zoned, reports note.

Whoever does take on the colossal fixer-upper has been warned: They “will probably need to take it down to the building shell and the studs,” real-estate agent Mona Miller told the Chronicle.
