Clear Protection Made for Concrete

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2015

BASF has introduced a water-based, 100 percent acrylic coating to protect vertical concrete exteriors from water and dirt.

Also suitable for concrete masonry units (CMU) and masonry, hydrophobic MasterProtect C 350 is designed to reduce exterior maintenance costs and to keep facades looking attractive.

The new coating is the latest in the MasterProtect line, which includes a range of high-performance water repellents, elastomeric and high-build anti-carbonation, chemical-resistant and corrosion-resistant coatings for concrete.

The C 350 product is designed to provide long-term protection of concrete structures and steel reinforcements against the ingress of carbon dioxide, chlorides and water.

Availability, Features

Available in the U.S. and Canada, the coating can be applied as a restoration topcoat or used on new vertical construction, according to BASF. The low-VOC formulation boasts “excellent” adhesion to concrete and existing coatings, the manufacturer says.

Additional features include long-lasting color retention and resistance to wind-driven rain and heavy UV exposure, according to product data.
