Deal Expands Graco Blast Unit

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2014

One year after jumping into the abrasive-blasting equipment field, Graco Inc. has strengthened its stake with a second acquisition.

The spray-equipment manufacturer announced Tuesday (Dec. 16) that it had acquired GeoBlaster Equipment Service and Sales Inc. of Ontario.

About GeoBlaster

GeoBlaster manufactures wet abrasive blasting equipment for coating removal and surface preparation in industrial, marine, construction, restoration, graffiti and automotive applications.

The third-generation company, more than 50 years old, says that its wet-blasting process eliminates more than 90 percent of the ambient dust produced by dry blasting. Wet blasting adds a water mist during the spraying process.

GraffitiRemoval

GeoBlaster's equipment is used for coating removal and surface preparation.

GeoBlaster's products—the GB400, GB600, GB 1200 DT, and the SA Series—will join Graco’s Applied Fluid Technologies Division.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Expansion Strategy

In December 2013, Minnneapolis-based Graco acquired EcoQuip Inc., a blast equipment maker based in Chesapeake, VA. That portfolio was also folded into the Applied Fluid Technologies business.

The GeoBlaster deal "aligns with our strategies to deliver leading technologies and expand our worldwide business,” said Tim White of Graco's AFT division.

"This is an exciting opportunity for AFTD as we continue to expand our capabilities in surface preparation.”
