Membrane Offers Slabs 7-Ply Protection
W.R. Meadows has introduced a seven-ply vapor and waterproof membrane designed to stop moisture migration in floors.
Premoulded Membrane Vapor Seal with Plasmatic Core, or PMPC, is an affordable, easy-to-install vapor proofing and waterproofing system for horizontal applications, according to the company.
“It exceeds industry standards for puncture resistance, tensile strength, and offers the lowest perm rating in the industry, less than 0.002 perms,” Russ Snow, Building Science Specialist at W. R. Meadows, said in a release.
How it Works
The company says PMPC is a weather-coated, permanently bonded, semi-flexible membrane devised of “an exclusive plasmatic core suspended mid-point between two layers of a homogeneous, bituminous material.”
The membrane is then sealed under heat and pressure between liners of asphalt-infused felt and a glass-mat liner. It then prevents water migration in footings, concrete floors, and structural slabs when applied properly.
An asphalt weather coat is then applied to the glass-mat liner and covered with a polyethylene anti-stick sheet.
