Sherwin-Williams Launches Pipe Line

Sherwin-Williams Protective and Marine Coatings has announced a new series of fast-drying, high-build, solvent-free polyurethanes for the water pipe market.
Products in the Poly-Cote line are chemical- and abrasion-resistant and provide a smooth, glossy finish. According to the company, the coatings offer the hydrophobic properties of an epoxy along with the durability, flexibility and fast cure times of a urethane.

Poly-Cote 110 Fast Set is a polyurethane coating formulated for exterior diameter pipe applications and has a dry-to-handle time of five to 10 minutes, according to the company. It can be applied via plural-component proportioning equipment with direct impingement mixing.

Poly-Cote 110 Rapid Set is designed for interior diameter pipe applications and provides a dry-to-handle time of 20 to 25 minutes. According to Sherwin-Williams, it has a smooth finish for achieving better water transfer.

Poly-Cote 115 is a flexible polyurethane coating developed for small fittings, elbows, valves and other tight work spaces. It offers a 24-hour recoat window, the company says.

Poly-Cote 115FR is available in a kit for coating welds and damage repairs. It can be applied by hand to both exterior coating and interior lining systems, according to the company.
