Creaform Upgrades 3D Pipeline Software
FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2014
Creaform has announced both a new upgrade and new module for its pipeline integrity assessment software.
When used with the new HandySCAN 3D scanner, the new Pipecheck 2.2 "enables NDT service companies and pipeline operators to quickly and accurately perform evaluations of pipeline degradation and remaining service life," says Creaform, based in Québec, Canada.

Creaform also introduced Pipecheck Analyze, a software module designed to address a parallel workflow for end users. The systems can be used in a variety of ways, according to the company:

-
Pipecheck is a single software tool for pipeline corrosion and mechanical damage assessment.
-
Pipecheck Analyze uses Pipecheck’s assessment tool for on-site analysis or from a remote location. For example, field technicians can send acquisition data from a ditch to be analyzed in more detail by a pipeline integrity engineer.
-
Virtual Pit Gauge offers a new algorithm that "ensures that users can benefit from all the scanned parent material," according to Creaform. The optimized virtual pit gauge features the stability of a two-sided pit-gauge and flexibility of a one-sided pit gauge.
-
Surface Merging gives users a method to optimize workflows when working on the same pipe joint with multiple units. Scans that share an overlap of targets can be realigned together using their common targets, increasing productivity in the field, the company says.
Creaform develops, manufactures, and sells 3D portable measurement technologies and specializes in 3D engineering services. The company is owned by AMETEK Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices.
