Aluminum Coating Boasts High Gloss

TUESDAY, MAY 6, 2014

The Valspar Corp. has introduced a two-coat acrylic resin coating system for storefronts, entrances, handrails, column covers, panel systems and other extruded aluminum products.

Acropon 2605 Extrusion Coating System’s high-gloss color palette and performance qualities are formulated for interior and exterior applications, according to the Minneapolis-based coatings manufacturer.

Valspar says the coating system meets the demands of high-traffic areas.

Features of the System

The system consists of a color coat and a clear coat, and is spray-applied to extruded aluminum.

The company says the proprietary, composite system of organic and inorganic polymers was developed with the latest advances in resin technology.

The resulting finish reportedly meets or exceeds American Architectural Manufacturers Association 2605-13 specifications for 10-year South Florida exposure weathering conditions and resistance to salt spray, chalking and fading.

Acropon also allows for precise color control, consistency and retention, the company adds.

In addition, the coating system withstands abrasion and chemicals—reducing the potential for scratches, mars or damage during shipments and installation, Valspar says.

Colors and Warranty

A wide palette is available, including color-intense hues, mica and metallic. Gloss levels range from 30 to 70 and higher, the company says.

Acropon is backed with a 10-year warranty, Valspar notes.
