Concrete Sealer Protects Exteriors

MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2014

A new water-based, penetrating sealing compound is designed to limit the intrusion of moisture and chlorides into exterior concrete surfaces.

Intraguard, from W.R. Meadows, is a proprietary silane and siloxane blend formulated to penetrate the pores of the concrete to protect it from de-icing chemicals and moisture. Intraguard-treated surfaces also resist staining from oils, fuels and chemicals, the manufacturer says.

According to W.R. Meadows, the non-film-forming clear sealer penetrates deep into the surface to form an integral barrier to moisture.

The sealer also reduces the entrapment of dirt and other contaminants that can discolor concrete and protects against efflorescence and rust staining, the company says.

W.R. Meadows recommends Instaguard for driveways, walkways, parking lots and other exterior concrete surfaces that need protection from moisture and chemicals.

Marketing director Glenn Tench says the use of Intraguard "improves the concrete’s durability."
