Tnemec Expands Tank Armor Line

THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2014

Tnemec Company has added a new chemical-resistant epoxy coating to its Tank Armor line.

Series 391 Tank Armor is a chemical- and abrasion-resistant, 100 percent solids epoxy liner for use in transport tanks containing chemical blends or acids used in hydraulic fracking.

The coating has been extensively tested for severe chemical immersion environments, according to Gary Zinn, Tnemec's sales director for Industrial Markets.

Series 391 also offers corrosion protection against hydrochloric acid, selected chemical combinations, and toluene and xylene blends, Tnemec says.

Rapid Return

Series 391's rapid return to service, one-coat application, fast-cure and high-build capabilities make it a good fit for the oil and gas market, according to Zinn.

High-voltage holiday testing can be conducted within hours of application by plural-component equipment in a single, high-build coat, the manufacturer says. In most cases, voids can be repaired with return to service in 24 to 36 hours.

The solvent-free, VOC-compliant coating is applied at 20 to 40 mils DFT, Tnemec says.
