New Spray Foam Seals in One Step

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2014

Gaco Western has introduced GacoFireStop2, billed as the first one-step, open-cell polyurethane foam insulation of its kind that requires no additional ignition barrier.

The product yields up to 15,000 board feet and features improved sprayability and rise, excellent adhesion, and easier trimming when compared to the original GacoFireStop, launched in 2011.

GacoFireStop and the updated version meet the requirements of International Code Council Evaluation Services AC377 Appendix X for use in attic and crawl spaces without an additional ignition barrier, the company says.

Additional Benefits

The water-blown spray-applied system cures to a distinctive orange-colored semi-rigid low-density foam, according to the product literature.

It adheres to most building materials and forms a completely sealed air barrier in wall cavities, attics and crawl spaces, Gaco Western says.

The system does not contain CFCs, HCFCs, formaldehyde or ozone depleting chemicals and is Class 1 fire rated, the company says.

Founded in 1955, Gaco Western offers a variety of products, including specialty coatings for roofs; pedestrian and traffic decking; and spray polyurethane foam insulation, for commercial, industrial and residential applications.
