New updates on an important initiative to develop architectural specifications for polished concrete will be the topic of a free upcoming D+D Education Series Webinar.

Architectural Specifications for Polished Concrete” will be held from 11 a.m. to noon ET Dec. 11.

Specifications Update

The webinar will offer updates on the Concrete Polishing Association of America's ongoing efforts to create industry standards for the selection and specification of polished concrete floors.

The presenter will also offer clarification on the means and methods used to produce polished concrete flooring.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Define the different types of polished concrete;
  • Identify when and where applications are best specified;
  • Identify the pros/cons of each type of polished concrete's sustainable design and how to enhance design solutions using polished concrete flooring;
  • Estimate the life-cycle cost of each type of polished concrete based on the course sample estimate form;
  • Identify possible health and safety concerns for each type of polished concrete and specify best practices/procedures to minimize environmental and safety hazards;
  • Gain an understanding of the types of equipment, chemicals and diamond tooling required to complete the various types of polished concrete; and
  • Ascertain the life cycle and sustainability of each type of polished concrete when specified in the proper environment.

About the Presenter

Presenter Brad Burns is a founding member and the Executive Director for the Concrete Polishing Association of America. A 29-year veteran of the flooring business, he has been instrumental in the development of standard procedures for the polishing industry. Burns is a member of the American Society of Concrete Contractors and the American Concrete Institute.
