New Unit Uncovers Building Air Leaks
Hidden air leakage in building envelopes and rigid air-barrier systems in the field is the target of DeFelsko's new PosiTest AIR Leak Tester.
The instrument is recommended for testing penetrations (fasteners, masonry ties) and continuity of joints and seams in rigid air-barrier systems during and after construction.
The highly accurate pressure sensor is designed for use with liquid-applied membranes, metal liners, sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF), exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), as well as other systems, according to DeFelsko, a major manufacturer of inspection instruments and gages.
The Ogdensburg, NY-based company says the PosiTest AIR Leak Tester comes in a kit with everything needed for leakage testing. The instrument can store up to 200 tests results with rate, time duration, limit and user-entered pass/fail conclusions.
Also, the device conforms to ASTM E1186 and comes with a one-year warranty, the manufacturer says.
