Pump Takes on Mortars, Heavy Coatings

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2013

Cementitious coatings, epoxy-based mortars, polymers filled with glass flake, and other heavy and abrasive materials can now be spray-applied with a new pump from Graco Inc., the company says.

The Graco M680 Mortar Pump speeds up surface prep work by allowing contractors to spray heavy materials onto the surface and finish-trowel the material, instead of hawk and trowel application, the company says.

In addition to mortars and cementitious coatings, the pump works with non-skid coatings and polymers with fillers like glass flake, silica, or sand. The M860 pumps heavy materials at low pressures, typically 200 to 500 psi, and uses an applicator to atomize the material and transfer it to the substrate, the company says.

According to Graco, the pump is designed with a high-velocity circulating flush for easy cleaning and can be disassembled for hand cleaning.

It is CE-approved and is explosion-proof for hazardous spray areas, the company says.

"The M680 Mortar Pump is great for contractors who hand-trowel, because it's easy to use and it saves significant time," said Eric Rennerfeldt, Product Marketing Manager. "It reduces manual labor, and is easy to clean and maintain as well."

The pump can be used with a flex hose applicator for heavily filled materials, a pole applicator for hard to reach areas, or the HTX 680 applicator for lighter materials.
