Icynene Bows 100% Water-blown SPF

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2013

Icynene has introduced ProSeal Eco, a 100 percent water-blown, medium-density closed-cell spray polyurethane foam insulation, for use in commercial and residential projects.

The manufacturer bills ProSeal Eco as a game-changer, describing the two-part insulation as a “smarter replacement for chemically-based medium density, closed-cell spray foam products.”

The product is recommended for use in high-occupancy designs, such as healthcare facilities, multi-residential buildings, educational facilities and other institutional structures.

“The ground-breaking new product is set to change how the construction industry uses closed-cell spray foam insulation thanks to the product’s superior environmentally responsible formulation and wide commercial application possibilities,” Icynene said in a product announcement.

Features, Testing

Icynene ProSeal Eco’s formulation does not include ozone-depleting blowing agents, hydroflurocarbons (HFCs) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), the company says.

The product also features superior adhesion characteristics, R-value, a built-in vapor retarder, and is suitable for projects in climate zone across North America, Icynene says.

ProSeal has been tested in NFPA 285 approved wall assemblies as well as a range of ASTM E119 approved wall assemblies, according to the manufacturer.

Further, the International Code Council Evaluation Services’ report for the product can been viewed here.

Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Icynene manufactures light density open-cell and medium density closed-cell insulation and air barrier materials.
