KILZ Revamps Interior Latex Line

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2013

Masterchem Industries LLC has announced a new formulation of its KILZ PRO-X  100 Series interior latex paint line, recommended for large, time-sensitive, multi-family residential and commercial projects.

The line, originally introduced in 2010, has been reformulated with professional painters, contractors, property managers and remodelers in mind. Masterchem says the new product offers superior hide, sprayability, coverage and touch-up characteristics.

Available exclusively at The Home Depot, the product line is available in three sheens and can be used on a variety of surfaces, including drywall, concrete block, masonry, metal, wood, cured plaster, architectural plastics and poured concrete, according to Masterchem.

3 Reformulated Sheens

The company describes the sheens and recommended uses as follows.

  • KILZ PRO-X 110 Interior Dead Flat is an ultra-low sheen, high-hiding, non-reflective, latex paint for walls and ceilings in high turnover properties and excels at hiding small surface imperfections.
  • KILZ PRO-X 130 Interior Eggshell is a production-quality, washable latex paint recommended for high traffic surfaces and rental property walls and trim.
  • KILZ PRO-X 170 Interior Semi-Gloss is a production-quality latex paint recommended for kitchens, baths, doors, trim, high-traffic surfaces and higher-moisture areas.

The products are priced between $62.50 and $87.50 for a five-gallon bucket (depending on sheen), the company says. A five-gallon bucket can cover up to 2,000 square feet.

Painter Sweepstakes

Also, a sweepstakes for professional painters has been launched along with the reformulation.

The program includes a chance to win KILZ PRO-X paint for a full year. Pros can enter the sweepstakes online through Dec. 31 at http://pro.behr.com/kpxsweeps.

Founded in 1954, St. Louis, MO-based Masterchem develops, manufactures and markets architectural paints, primers, waterproofers, concrete care products, applicators and stains. The KILZ product portfolio is serviced through the BehrPro program.
