Creaform Upgrades Pipeline Software
Creaform has released an updated version of its software platform for pipeline corrosion and mechanical damage assessment, developed for pipeline operators and NDT service companies.
Pipecheck 2.1 implements a measuring tool comparable to a pit gage. The "virtual pit gage" manages depth measurements near welds, valves, floors and other obstacles, the company says.
Creaform's updated software uses a virtual interface to perform in-line inspection correlation with data acquired by its Handyscan 3D. According to the company, the interface has been optimized to compare depths, lengths, width and burst pressure.
"The idea to develop an ILI correlation functionality emerged from our will to find a solution to the dilemma that pipeline operators face on an ongoing basis," said Jérôme-Alexandre Lavoie, product manager.
The software also has an internal surfaces analysis tool, to determine internal corrosion on pressure vessels or ducts.
"With this release, we continue to target the O&G market, but the new functionalities will be particularly interesting for refineries, as they make pipeline inspection possible despite the presence of complex elements such as valves or welds," said Lavoie.
Creaform plans to hold a workshop Nov. 4 at the American Society for Nondestructive Testing Annual Conference to present the software's new functionalities, give hands-on practice, and a live demonstration.
