Free Webinar Takes on Coatings Removal

Tackling the challenge of removing coatings from masonry will be the topic of a free upcoming webinar hosted by Durability + Design.

"Removing Coatings from Masonry Substrates," a D+D Education Series Webinar, will be presented at 11 a.m. ET May 15.

The removal of paint from masonry substrates is challenging. This webinar will present the advantages and disadvantages of various methods of removal, along with suggestions on matching the method of removal to building-specific conditions. This webinar is an update of a 2010 presentation on the same topic.

The presenter will be Kenneth A. Trimber, president of KTA-Tator Inc.

The presenter will be Kenneth Trimber, president of KTA-Tator.

Trimber has 40 years of experience in the industrial painting field. He holds a BS from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is an SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector, and is certified at a Level III nuclear coating inspection capability in accordance with ANSI N45.2.6.

Additionally, he is a past president of SSPC and a past chairman of ASTM D1 on Paints and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications.

Moisture in Masonry

Another D+D Education Series webinar, "Investigating Sources of Moisture in Concrete and Masonry Walls" will be presented from 10 to 11 a.m. ET Friday (May 10).

The webinar will discuss sources of moisture intrusion, including parapet walls, leaking gutters and downspouts, deficiencies in insulation, problems with air leakage, and poor wind-driven rain resistance of the coating.
