Nanotech coating maker Industrial Nanotech Inc. has introduced Nansulate Vinyl Fresh, a waterborne latex-based clear coat for revitalizing aged vinyl siding and preserving new vinyl siding.

The coating is designed to provide non-yellowing UV resistance, protection from weathering and warping, thermal insulation for energy savings, resistance to moisture, breathability, and resistance to mold and algae growth.

Vinyl siding is one of the main residential building materials used in the United States.

The product was inspired by the company's Nansulate Crystal clear roof coating, said Francesca Crolley, vice president of business development.

'Underserved Market'

Crolley said Vinyl Fresh had "performed beautifully" in "extended field trials."

In 2011, vinyl siding was used on 33 percent of new single-family homes; 41 percent of attached, single-family homes; and 32 percent of detached single-family homes, Crolley said.

"So it was obvious to us that vinyl siding is one of the main building materials used in the U.S. housing market, and after finding little competition in the protective coatings market to address this material, we saw this was an underserved market," she said.

Vinyl Fresh

Vinyl Fresh is designed to preserve new siding and rejuvenate faded siding.

The company says Vinyl Fresh increases insulation to save energy, requires less power washing for maintenance, prevents new siding from fading, and rejuvenates faded siding.

The ready-to-use coating can be applied by brush, sprayer or roller and carries a five-year warranty.

The Nansulate product line includes industrial, residential, agricultural and solar thermal insulation coatings.
