Flakes Glow for Safety Applications

More items for Coating Materials

Comment | More

Glow-in-the-dark flakes that can provide guidance during a power outage are the latest offering from Garage Flooring LLC.

The Colorado-based supplier of garage flooring products has introduced the flakes for garage floor epoxy, garage floor coatings, industrial coatings and safety applications.

Although a "fun," decorative product when used on residential garage floors, the flakes can play a role in safety when used in commercial and industrial settings, providing visual guidance in the event of a power outage, says company president and co-founder Justin Krauss.

The flakes come in blue or green, each with four different qualities.

"The flakes can easily be broadcast in a heavy straight line to outline a walkway in the event of a power outage," he said. "Using tape or other masking items, you can create arrows and other items as well. So, while this is an incredibly fun product, it also has the potential to increase safety."

2 Colors, 4 Qualities

The flakes are available in green or blue, each with four different qualities. Garage Flooring says the flakes provide increased brightness and duration of glow.

Prices range from $35.99 to $84.99 per pound; the product is sold in one-pound packages, according to the company's website.

I was interested in finding the MSDS to look for the active ingredient (Zinc Sulfide is the most common) - can't seem to even find any MSDS on their website.
