One of the nation's foremost experts on the energy performance of air barriers will report on the latest research into this technology in a free educational webinar hosted by Durability + Design.

Andre O. Desjarlais, Building Envelopes Group Leader at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will present "Energy Performance of Air Barrier Systems" from 11 a.m. to noon ET April 9.

Building Name: New Medical Campus, Bronson Methodist Hospital Building Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA

Air barrier technology was integrated throughout Bronson Methodist Hospital's new medical campus in Kalamazoo, MI. Manufacturers and researchers have been developing data on energy performance of air barriers.

This webinar will provide an update on the findings of a research project led by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the energy performance of air barrier systems.

Experts estimate that infiltration and exfiltration account for 20 percent to 30 percent of the cooling and heating loads in commercial and residential buildings. This study was designed to measure the efficacy of air barriers in reducing these loads. The webinar will address data on energy performance and moisture content compiled over 12 months.

The project is a collaboration by ORNL, the Air Barrier Association of America, and 12 of its members.

Webinar participants are eligible for one AIA LU credit.
