International Paint LLC, an AkzoNobel company, has announced the opening of Protective Coatings Centers across the U.S. and Canada.

The launch represents the first phase of what the company says will eventually become a larger network of free-standing Protective Coatings Centers servicing customers in all major markets.

The centers will increase International Paint’s reach to customers throughout North America by more than 200 percent, according to the company.

International Paint has opened two Protective Coatings Centers, which the company says will increase its reach in North America by over 200 percent.

Streamlined Purchasing, Services

The centers are designed to help customers access International Paint and Devoe Coating’s full range of high-performance protective coatings, linings, and fire-protection products throughout North America by providing a more streamlined, customer-centric process.

“We are very excited about the launch of our new International Paint Protective Coatings Centers and the integral role they will play in providing a platform for our customer’s productivity and profitability longterm,” said Chris Tiernay, vice president of International Paint’s Protective Coatings North America division.

“With increased access to inventory, flexible pick-up and delivery options, and highly trained staff, all underpinned by harmonized services, our International Paint Coatings Centers will enable streamlined product procurement so that our customers can stay focused on their projects.”

Each location will provide industrial customers with a variety of personalized services, the company said.

The centers will offer onsite color and tinting assistance; hassle-free product ordering with monthly invoices; and direct contact with technical, engineering, and customer service support teams.

Management Team

The company has named the management team responsible for overseeing U.S. operations. Gary Ferguson has been named vice president of Distributor Sales & Store Operations, and Nick Butler was named manager of Store Operations.

Gary Ferguson will manage the centers' U.S. distributor sales and operations.

Ferguson will be responsible for managing all U.S. Protective Coatings Centers’ operations, including distributor sales initiatives.

With more than 28 years at AkzoNobel, Ferguson most recently served in the Decorative Paints North America division as regional manager of Sales & Operations for the Northeast region. He has held multiple sales and operations positions, including the national accounts manager for Canada.

Butler will lead the Protective Coatings Centers’ team in delivering customer service excellence, training and development, procedural compliance, and strict adherence to HSE&S standards.

Butler has been in the Decorative Paints North America division for more than 23 years and has held several field management positions in the U.S., focusing on the operational management of company-owned stores.

“Their wealth of hands-on management expertise will play a vital role in ensuring a seamless transition to customer-direct sales, and in the quality of our customers’ product procurement experience,” Tiernay said.
