Global coatings company PPG recently unveiled the launch of a new online powder coatings website to provide powder coating job shops with “quick and easy access to small batches of the company’s powdered coatings.”

PPG reported in a press release that the online store features 4,500 products, including 200 of PPG’s top powder coatings in more than 100 colors and quantities ranging from 5 to 50 pounds. Shipping ranges from same-day shipping, free standard shipping and overnight delivery.

Site users can view product information, such as technical data and safety data sheets, as well as application processes used for the powder coatings.

“At PPG, we strive to make the customer’s purchasing experience as easy as possible, and we recognize that customers increasingly prefer to make purchasing decisions online,” said Shelley Verdun, PPG Business Manager, Powder, Americas.

“Our new online powder shop helps customers efficiently find the exact product that meets their specifications using the convenient filtering options. These products include protective coatings that are engineered for heat-sensitive substrates and offer high transfer efficiency and edge coverage.”

According to the company, PPG’s powder coatings offer “myriad benefits over other coatings technologies, including low production cost per unit, ease in reclaiming and recycling, extended durability, exceptional chip and abrasion resistance, and 95% transfer efficiency. PPG powder coatings are also specifically formulated without volatile organic compounds (VOCs).”

Other Recent PPG News

At the beginning of September, PPG announced the completion of another Colorful Communities project, this time at the Maison de l’Enfance et de la Famille du Valenciennois in Artes, France.

The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products, along with financial contributions, to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Artes, where PPG has a production facility and global coatings innovation center.

For the MEF project in particular, roughly 50 PPG volunteers spent 200 hours beautifying the public shelter, which cares for children ages eight to 13 placed by the child welfare system. The shelter is managed by Etablissement Public Départemental pour Soutenir, Accompagner et Eduquer.

Earlier this week, PPG announced that it had received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registration for its PPG Copper Armor antimicrobial paint.

The coating contains Corning Guardiant technology, proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses on the painted surface within two hours, including SARS-CoV-2.

Upon receiving registration from the EPA, PPG reports that it will begin selling the zero-volatile organic compound paint in late 2021 through U.S. PPG Paints stores, independent retailers and select home improvement stores.

The coating is reportedly intended for high-traffic areas such as health care, hospitality, office and educational environments, as well as residential applications. The coatings technology, capable of killing viruses and bacteria within two hours of contact, can provide this type of consistent protection on the painted surface for up to five years, providing a safeguard against harmful microbes on walls, trim and doors.

PPG Copper Armor also provides a mold- and mildew-resistant coating on the dry paint film. The PPG Copper Armor coating will be available in eggshell, satin and semi-gloss, and can be tinted to more than 600 colors from the PPG paint palette collection, the company says.
