Leading provider of information, market intelligence and events for the global plastics industry, AMI, will be hosting its 13th Pipeline Coating conference virtually from May 4-6.

According to AMI, this year the Field Joint Coating, Pipeline Coating Houston and Pipeline Coating Vienna conferences have all been merged to create one focused global virtual event that will offer attendees an online meeting place to discuss the national, regional and global challenges facing the industry.

During the virtual summit, AMI reports that attendees will be provided a dynamic forum for the global pipeline supply chain, from pipe producers to contractors and asset owners, and will be able to connect with key players from across the supply chain to gain a broad understanding of the status of the market, current developments, and future challenges.

Leading provider of information, market intelligence and events for the global plastics industry, AMI, will be hosting its 13th Pipeline Coating conference virtually from May 4-6.

AMI reports that attendees will also:

  • Gain operational insights as operators and contractors share their challenges and needs;
  • Make the most of the online networking and meeting opportunities from your own home or office;
  • Learn about the challenges, outlook and strategies of a changing industry;
  • Browse the virtual exhibition to find out what companies are developing and what they can offer you; and
  • Participate in a dynamic session exploring the strategies undertaken to cope in a crisis including a look at COVID-19.

New this year, the conference will also see the addition of an Operator and Contractor Clinic.

Over the course of the three days, the conference will operate in half-days from 1 p.m. CET. The event and its accompanying virtual exhibition offer accessibility for a global audience, who will be able to participate from the safety of their home or office.

The program has been selected by an Advisory Board that includes:

  • Denis Melot from Total;
  • Suresh Choudhary from Shawcor;
  • Somaieh Salehpour from Seal For Life Industries;
  • Jeffrey D. Rogozinski from Sherwin-Williams;
  • Thomas Stark from Borealis;
  • Mike Surkein from Surkein Corrosion;
  • Houssam Sabry from ICE;
  • Samuel J. Thomas (Independent Consultant);
  • Philip D. Tooth from Tooth Pipeline Services; and
  • Alex Garner from London Corrosion Services Ltd.

On the topic on COVID-19, AMI’s recent market research has shown that the pipeline coating market has seen growth due to increasing global pipeline construction, rising energy demands and increased urbanization. However, the implications of CCOVID-19 on population movements and the oil price, have had a severe impact on the industry with projects postponed or canceled, whilst at the same time, steel prices have been at a record low resulting in stockpiling.

“The industry needs to look forward to innovations in R&D at lower costs that can drive forward more efficient pipelines, cleaner production, coating technologies, rehabilitating, and reusing pipelines, as well as long-lasting coatings that survive pipe stockpiling,” states the association.

Outside of the current struggles in wake of COVID-19, the conference also boasts a variety of agenda items covering the latest developments in coatings, the best coatings for service, pipeline lifetime considerations, the industry’s latest innovations and how the industry is changing and what challenges it is facing.
