In the soon-to-be-released February issue of Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings, Brion Palmer, CEO of Technology Publishing Co., shares plans for the magazine’s redesign and new, independent status.

Inside the Issue

Continuing to update JPCL readers, Palmer reports that, while JPCL will no longer be partnering with SSPC (now part of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance), the editorial team remains devoted to providing education and best practices to the protective and marine coatings industry.

“Supporting you, our readers—painting contractors, engineering firms, inspection companies, asset owners, facility managers, government agencies, architects, shipyards, shop painters, manufacturers and distributors—is what motivates us to pursue and cultivate content from the best thinkers and doers in the industry,” wrote Palmer.

Effective with the April 2021 issue, JPCL plans to reintroduce itself as the fresh, independent voice of the industry, complete with a new look, subscription offers and benefits—including subscriber-only access to the 25-year JPCL digital archive and its wealth of technical information.

Technology Publishing Company

In the soon-to-be-released February issue of Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings, Brion Palmer, CEO of Technology Publishing Co., shares plans for the magazine's redesign and new, independent status.

Flipping through the February issue, readers can also expect the return of “Maintenance Tips,” a revived and updated column, aimed at bringing industry professionals up-to-speed best practices and new technologies for maintenance work.

“Throughout the year, we’ll be digging into the JPCL archives and updating past columns, such as the Applicator Training Bulletin and Maintenance Tips sections, to revisit longstanding industry topics and align them with today’s best practices and new technologies,” said Charlie Lange, JPCL Editor-in-Chief.

The February issue also includes a variety of features, brought to you by Mike O’Donoghue, Vijay Datta and Ian Fletcher, AkzoNobel; David Hunter, Pond & Company; and Charles Brown, Greenman-Pedersen, Inc.

In March, readers can also anticipate a issue as a tribute to the decades-long relationship JPCL has had with SSPC. Slated to feature vintage advertisements and conversations with industry leaders, the issue is something readers won't want to miss.

“Before taking off independently, we at JPCL are excited to devote our upcoming March issue to celebrating the successful partnership between JPCL and SSPC and the major industry milestones that have taken place over the course of their 37-year affiliation,” said Lange.

“It’s important to acknowledge all that has been accomplished together before embarking on our own separate—and, we hope, similarly successful—paths in the industry.”

JPCL is part of the Technology Publishing Company’s network of paint and coating editorial products. Related websites and publications include PaintSquare Daily News, Paint BidTracker and Water BidTracker.

JPCL Archives, Subscriptions

Following the release of the February issue, the magazine will be added to the JPCL archive—containing 25 years of JPCL digital issues dating back to 1996—which covers a priceless collection of evergreen information, solutions to real-life problems, case studies, insight from experts and a historical record of the industry.

“The JPCL digital archives is a unique resource for any person working in the protective and marine coating industry. The depth of content from all the top thinkers in the industry is unmatched,” said Palmer.

In 2020 alone, Palmer reports that more than 25,000 industry professionals accessed the archives. However, the content is only available to current JPCL subscribers and in separating from SSPC, will no longer be an association benefit.

To mediate these changes, a special subscription rate is currently being offered to all new subscribers.

Interested readers have the option for domestic one-year print and digital edition subscriptions for $39 (previously $90) and international one-year print and digital edition subscriptions for $80 (previously $120). For those interested in one-year digital-only subscriptions, domestic and international pricing is just $29 (previously $39).

According to Palmer, “A subscription to JPCL is priced affordably to appeal to every industry professional.” This special subscription offer is only available until March 27.
