Mississippi Power and Southern Power announced a partnership last month to build a “smart neighborhood.” Dubbed “Enzor Place,” the homes in the plan will exclusively feature the Tesla Solar Roof as well as Powerwall batteries, energy efficient equipment and appliances, and smart home automation.
"Mississippi Power uses the most advanced technologies to offer creative energy solutions that make our customers' lives easier every day," Mississippi Power President and CEO Anthony Wilson said. "This smart neighborhood is designed to simplify homeowners' lives and give them more control over their home and energy use."

Earlier this year, Mississippi Power, Tesla and Cross Roofing worked together to install the first Solar Roof V3 in the state on a Habitat for Humanity home. This unit is being observed for research by Mississippi Power.
"Mississippi Power employees have volunteered on numerous Habitat for Humanity home builds across our service territory over the years," Mississippi Power Vice President of Customer Service and Operations Fran Forehand said. "This was a natural partnership with Habitat that provides the added benefit of studying how an innovative technology can best serve our customers."
The plan is slated to eventually have up to 150 homes, with 45 planned for the first phase of construction, which is slated to start at the beginning of next year.
“To have Southern Company, Mississippi Power, and Tesla focused on our area, it is not only is great for the local economy, but it just brings attention to us from a lot of other folks as well,” said Bill Hannah, the President and CEO of the East Mississippi Development Corporation.
Other than designating Lauderdale County, a specific site for the development has not been announced.
