PS Connect to Offer Education on Surface Prep

In this installment of our PaintSquare Connect preview, PaintSquare Daily News lays out the curriculum for Track 3: Surface Preparation, sponsored by 10X Engineered Materials. Registrants can browse and enroll for free in these and other sessions on the event website.

ABOUT PAINTSQUARE CONNECT, NOV. 10-12

The three-day virtual event for the protective and commercial coatings industries is hosted by Technology Publishing Co. and co-sponsored by Sherwin-WilliamsCarboline, Finishing First (Powered by LMCI) and McBrayer & Associates.

  • This presentation, examining the causes and effects of premature coating failures due to soluble salts contamination, will cover annual corrosion costs and provide a detailed understanding of corrosion issues and solutions that will benefit owners, coatings manufacturers, contractors, engineers, coatings inspectors and anyone else working in this industry.

Choosing Abrasive Media for Blasting Applications

  • This webinar will discuss a common-sense approach to abrasive selection—describing media types, their characteristics, sizing available, mil profiles, recyclability and more—to give you the knowledge you need to decide on the best media for your projects.

Harsco Environmental: A Refined Vision
Dominic DeAngelo, Director of Sales and Marketing, Harsco Environmental

  • DeAngelo will provide insight into Harsco's initiative to rebrand the company as Harsco Environmental. He will also offer an update on the recent OSHA Beryllium ruling, what it means to the market and why it applies to all blasting projects regardless of the surface preparation media being used. Finally, he will review recent performance testing that compares products on the market with new, pending offerings from the company’s Black Beauty brand.

Identifying and Managing Inhalation Hazards Associated with Abrasive Blasting

  • Enger talks about the most common inhalation hazards associated with abrasive blasting and their contribution to lung diseases, along with the impact these diseases have on workers. The presentation also covers what employers and employees can do to prevent workplace inhalation dangers.

3-3:45 p.m.

Surface Preparation Standards – Updates for Concrete
Jim Kunkle, PCS – Manager, Development & Membership Engagement, SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings

  • This webinar will focus on SSPC standards associated with the surface preparation of concrete. It will also tie in several other important testing methods and guides from other organizations, which work in conjunction with these SSPC standards.
