In 2014-16, the copper ribs and the rest of the exterior of the building underwent a $25 million renovation. However, the paint on the copper ribs started to peel and flake less than two years after being applied.
General contractor GH Phipps tagged in The Base Group (a rope-access coatings company) in May 2019 to perform the new work that was then necessary.
Base Group performed vapor blasting to all the copper work and then applied Sherwin-Williams Macropoxy, followed by Fluorokem HS.
The work was complete that October.
