The July issue of the Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings is now online, available through options including an interactive digital edition, a full complement of web content and downloadable PDF.

The first feature comes from Nicole de Varennes, P.L. (Eng.), IRISNDT Ltd; Mike O’Donoghue, PhD, and Vijay Datta, MS, International Paint LLC; and Norm Spence, Spence Corrosion Ltd., in which they discuss high-temperature inert multi-polymeric matrix coatings for mitigating corrosion. In this article, titled “Down The Hole Without a Paddle: Corrosion Mitigation of Wellhead Surface Casings Using IMM Coatings,” the authors explain this coating technology, which many oil producers have successfully trialed and adopted for existing wellhead surface casings.

Next, Keith Coulson, James Ferguson and David Milmine, TC Energy, look at a testing program developed to assess the integrity of the coating on stored pipe in “Study of Stockpiled, Fusion-Bonded Epoxy-Coated Pipe.” The study focuses on a major North American oil pipeline project.

Finally, Carl Reed, GPI Laboratories, Inc.; and Kat Coronado and Heather Cui, International Paint, LLC, look into the effects of remediation of a below-specification blast profile on a steel surface. In the article “Underblasted and Reblasted Carbon Steel Substrates: Topographical and Performance Effects,” the profile is examined by using test panels that were prepared using steel grit abrasive and coal slag abrasive at below-specification profile, at specification and remediated.
