The American Concrete Institute announced last week that its annual ACI Concrete Convention, which was slated to take place in Oct. 25-29 in Raleigh, North Carolina, will now be held virtually.
The ACI Virtual Concrete Convention will take place over similar dates at the end of October, according to the institute, which adds that this format could lend itself to more collaboration.
“The ACI Virtual Concrete Convention will enable the critical work of the Institute to continue moving forward,” stated Ronald G. Burg, PE, Executive Vice President, American Concrete Institute. “Additionally, this virtual format provides the opportunity for much greater participation from students, professionals, and our global colleagues who may not have been planning to attend in person.”
Attendees of the ACI Virtual Concrete Convention will still experience:
-
Advancing concrete codes, specifications and practices during committee meetings;
-
Technical and educational sessions on the latest concrete research, case studies, best practices and the opportunity to earn Professional Development Hours; and
-
Several virtual networking and special events.
In addition, ACI noted that recipients of its 6th Annual ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards will be recognized via virtual gala celebration, which will take place Oct. 26.
“All registered convention attendees are invited to join the virtual event, celebrating the most prestigious and innovative concrete construction projects from around the world,” ACI said.
“The awards presentation will highlight project details through several short videos that will accompany the presentation of each award. The event will conclude with the presentation of the most prestigious award in the concrete design and construction community, the ‘Excellence’ Award.”
Registration for the event is now open.
