Webinar Archive: Future of Metal Cladding

The PaintSquare webinar archive now features new recordings of webinar broadcasts of educational topics in the coatings industry. As part of this update, PaintSquare Daily News will occasionally feature a "new" recording.

“Contextual Coatings: The Future of Metal Cladding," which was originally broadcast in July 2019, discusses the future of exterior coatings and finishes and explains the process of achieving a site-specific, client-specific design in a presentation by Geoff Hahn, Creative Director, Co-Founder of Pure + Freeform and sponsored by AGC Inc.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the offset-gravure printing process and its components;
  • Discuss the features and design capabilities of architectural printed metal products;
  • Understand the advantages of FEVE over PVDF coatings; and
  • Identify how architectural printed metal products may contribute to the sustainability of a building.

About the Presenter

Hahn, the Creative Director and Co-Founder of Pure + Freeform, is an American metals and materials designer best known for his design work over the last decade creating metal designs for leading organizations and brands, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Aman Hotels, Hyatt, Moxy (Marriott), Canopy (Hilton), Intercontinental, Mandarin Oriental, Issey Miyake, Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, Shiseido and Sony, along with landmark projects, including: Hudson Yards, CITC Philly, The Smithsonian NMAAHC, Charleston Airport, Huston Hobby Airport, Portland’s Japanese Gardens addition, Asian Art Museum (San Francisco) and 108 Chambers (New York City).

Prior to this, Hahn worked at Polo Ralph Lauren in its Store Development & Architecture Division. There, he assisted in developing and managing free-standing retail stores for both new design and construction, as well as renovations of existing stores across the globe.

Hahn earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University College of Architecture, Art and Planning. His extensive design education includes academic credentials from Pratt Institute, where he focused on industrial design and materials; the School of Visual Arts (New York City); and the University of London, where he studied art history, architecture and visual merchandising.
