In an emailed press release the Coating Society of the Houston Area announced yesterday (March 16), that the CSHA Painters Competition would be postponed until further notice.

The postponement news came as a best practice decision regarding the health and safety of those expected to attend the event amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rachel Herrington, President of CSHA wrote: “We feel at this time that it was the best decision to be made considering the amount of children that are also in attendance at this event. Our nation has chosen to close down schools, sporting events, concerts and many other forms of social gathers pertaining to children, and we feel it’s best that we follow suite.”

Previously, the 31st Annual Painters Competition was slated to take place March 28 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Pasadena Fairgrounds in Pasadena, Texas.

Herrington adds that moving forward, the organization hopes to reschedule the competition for some time in the fall, while an exact date is still pending. However, no information on the 2020 Trade Show and Demo Fair has been released as of press time, and is still slated to take place on April 3 at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Admission to the event is free and includes access to over 70 exhibits, featuring coatings products, services and equipment, a technical program and other perks including free live music and free beverages. Door prize entries will also be available for $30 a ticket, which include lunch provided to exhibitors and early arrivals. A crawfish boil with sides will be featured in the evening during the awards segment of the event.
