Last week, The Sherwin-Williams Company’s Valspar paint brand announced its 2020 Colors of the Year—12 hues that the company says are nature-inspired and invite serenity.

Valspar says that, for this year’s trends, it looked at do-it-yourselfers, who are “craving colors found in nature that are subdued and living—improvements on paint colors they already have in their homes.”

So much so, that the images for the palette were photographed in people’s homes, according to the company.

“Earth’s prescription for the chaotic, busy lives we all live is to bring the tranquility of nature and the outdoor world into the home,” said Sue Kim, Valspar Color Marketing Manager at Sherwin-Williams.

“That’s exactly what we set out to accomplish when forecasting the 2020 Colors of the Year. Take Mint Whisper, for instance. The crisp shade brings a sense of peace—and nature’s positivity—indoors."

Valspar says that each of the 12 trending hues cultivate a safe, serene space, bringing joy and comfort to the home.
