Ace Hardware Corporation and Benjamin Moore recently announced an expanded relationship that makes Benjamin Moore the preferred paint supplier by Spring 2020.

“Since 2005, Benjamin Moore and Ace Hardware have worked together to service the DIY customer through the hardware segment. Expanding our relationship with Ace furthers our legacy commitment to the independent retail channel, while broadening access to Benjamin Moore for paint customers,” said Dan Calkins, Chairman and CEO of Benjamin Moore, in an emailed press release.

“We look forward to continuing to offer the personalized service and industry expertise that consumers have come to expect from both Benjamin Moore and Ace Hardware.”

Ace Hardware Corporation and Benjamin Moore recently announced an expanded relationship that makes Benjamin Moore the preferred paint supplier by Spring 2020.

According to Benjamin Moore, it will increase its footprint in Ace Hardware stores and make its products available through an exclusive warehouse distribution program. This will allow Ace Hardware stores to carry an assortment of premium interior and exterior Benjamin Moore paint.

Benjamin Moore will also assume responsibility for manufacturing Clark+Kensington and Royal, Ace Hardware’s private label paint brands.

“Ace has been and will continue to be a neighborhood destination for quality paint and helpful advice. Our expanded relationship with Benjamin Moore reinforces our commitment to provide the highest quality brands, that can’t be found in discount stores or websites, to our customers while further strengthening our independent retailers,” said John Surane, Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising and Sales Officer of Ace Hardware.

“We will continue to listen to our customers to ensure we offer the services they need and the products they want from brands who share our commitment to highest quality products, superior service and unrivaled retail convenience.”

Other Partnerships

This isn’t the first time a manufacturer has explicitly paired with a retailer. In April of last year, PPG and The Home Depot announced an expanded partnership. The companies announced last week that Home Depot would be offering PPG’s Olympic brand stains in all of its nearly 2,000 stores across the United States.

And the month before, Lowe’s Companies Inc. and The Sherwin-Williams Company announced that they expanded their partnership, making Lowe’s the only nationwide home center to offer stain brands such as Minwax, Cabot and Thompson’s Water Seal, in addition to paintbrush brand Purdy and spray paint brand Krylon.

Sherwin-Williams will also become the only nationwide supplier to Lowe’s, which has had an extensive relationship with Valspar Corporation (a recent mega merger for Sherwin) since 1971.
