Global coatings supplier PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) announced in mid-February that the company would be investing $10 million in a new 82,000-square-foot facility and class A paint line, located at its Greenville, South Carolina, coatings services facility.

According to PPG, the Greenville plant opened in 2013, serving as a coatings services facility for automotive original equipment manufacturers and tier one suppliers. Later, in 2015, the facility was expanded to include services related to aftermarket packaging and hem sealing services. The plant specializes in electrocoat services, as well as the application of class A exterior coatings on aluminum and galvanized substrates.

“The expansion of the Greenville facility will help us continue to grow with our customers in this important location,” said Jeff Oravitz, PPG vice president, coatings services.

“The added capacity for electrocoating, labeling, light assembly, packaging and shipping, along with other value-added solutions, will be invaluable to our customers looking to streamline processes, save time and reduce logistics costs. PPG is continuing to offer multiple one-stop services to deliver superior solutions to our customers.”

Construction on the expansion is slated for completion in August.
