Tower Features

The tourist attraction is slated to include a multitude of activites, including:

  • Skyplunge, a base-jumping activity in which jumpers are attached to a high-speed descent wire and plummet at nearly 55 mph;
  • Skydrop, where riders ascend more than 600 feet and then drop 540 feet at free-fall speeds up to 95 mph;
  • SkyRise Flying Theater, a six-minute simulation in which riders are secured in seats that, when the floor drops out, are suspended 40 feet in the air;
  • Skyway, which will bill itself as the world’s tallest rotating observation attraction;
  • Skyfly, a zero-gravity tunnel that allows visitors to “float” to the top of the tower;
  • Skywalk, where tethered strollers can walk out onto an open deck with no handrails, 908 feet aboveground;
  • Skyglide, a transparent slide that allows visitors to “glide” outside for a panoramic view of Miami; and
  • Skyledge, a transparent sky deck cantileveeds off of the structure’s outside wall, 866 feet above ground.

In addition to Plaza Construction, other companies on the SkyRise crew include Arquitectonica, Magnusson Klemenic Associates, Cosentini Associates, gsmprjct and DVS.

Officials estimate the Florida’s future tallest building will draw more than 3 million visitors a year. The tower is slated for completion in 2023 and a definitive price tag for the tower has not been released.

Looks fun. I hope they have a shuttle service - doesn't look like much parking onsite.
