Cleveland-based Pratt & Lambert Paints has released its 2019 Color of the Year pick, as well as a forecast of four complementary palettes to this year’s hue.

“The 2019 color forecast is about our focus on inner exploration as the path to a more balanced and fulfilling life,” the company said.

“Breaking free from our comfort zone, we optimistically accelerate our exposure to extreme experiences and worlds. Reality and virtual reality blur and radiate as technology touches every aspect of our lives. We long to preserve the essentials and hope to gravitate to choices that fulfill us.”

Along with Earthen Trail, Pratt & Lambert released four palettes of eight shades each, including:

  • Accelerate – Described as edge and offbeat, this palette is full of almost-primary colors, with shades of red, blue, green and yellow at the helm, complemented with shades of Gray Mist, Orange Berry and Feather Gray. “Utilize duets and trios from this palette in the family room, kitchen or any place you want to showcase your creativity,” the company says.
  • Radiate – Bright shades of teal (Vivid Blue) and pink (Deep Cerise) center this palette that aims to energize and balance.
  • Preserve – Bringing a more tranquil collection to the forecast, this palette is filled with softer tones such as Maple Sugar, a pale yellow, and Melon Green. “Reclaimed furniture, natural wood and stone blend beautifully into rooms painted in this palette’s colors of the plains, deserts and sunsets of the world we seek to preserve,” the company notes.
  • Fulfill – Influenced by florals, this palette is primarily hued in pinks and purples, including Softened Red, Amethyst and Pink Lavender, which the company recommends be used for a soothing bedroom or other personal space.
