In a move to meet customer demand for further education, global coatings supplier PPG announced early last week that it will be offering more aerocoatings training by increasing the number of educations programs available through its Aerospace Coatings Academy.

According to PPG, more than 50 airlines, aircraft manufacturers and maintenance operations, represented by more than 200 painters, engineers and purchasers, have attended 14 sessions since the program’s inception in 2015.  Sessions, which offer hands-on learning as well as classroom education, are free of charge.

“By holding the training at PPG facilities, we also afford attendees the opportunity to see PPG coatings operations,” said Daniel Bencun, PPG global director, aerospace coatings.

“Customers have told us they find value in both the classroom segments that provide technology overviews and the practical sessions, where they participate in such activities as applying paint onto panels in a spray booth.”

The next Aerospace Coatings Academy will be held in December at PPG’s Barcelona automotive refinish coatings manufacturing facility. Those interested in attending the Aerospace Coatings Academy can contact their local PPG sales representatives for further details.
