The deadline is nearing to vote for Tnemec Company Inc.'s Tank of the Year contest, an annual competition honoring innovative and creative uses of the company's products on water tank projects.
Voting for People’s Choice ends at 5 p.m. CST on Friday (Oct 19).
Tank of the Year Nominees
One of this year’s top five nominees is a Winston-Salem, North Carolina, water tank depicting a 50-foot-tall otter. The mural encompasses 15,000 square feet, and is visible to around 25,000 drivers a day. Water tank mural artist Daas used Tnemec’s Series 1026 Enduratone, an acrylic designed as an intermediate or topcoat in a protective coating system for steel or concrete substrates.

“Approximately 270 water tanks were nominated for this year’s competition, which recognizes the most impressive coatings projects in the water tank industry,” said Doug Hansen, Director of the Water Tank Market for Tnemec. “Since the first Tank of the Year was announced in 2006, more than 2,000 water tanks have been nominated from across the U.S. and Canada.”
Once online voting is over, the water tank with the most votes will be named People’s Choice, and automatically entered as a finalist for the 2018 Tank of the Year title.
Contest winners are chosen based on a number of criteria, including artistic merit, significance to the community and challenges encountered on the project.
