In his presentation, Buckhurst will discuss coatings that meet the needs of users, emphasizing the importance of these coatings having built-in safety margins. These margins can increase the lifespan of a coating even when temperatures exceed what the coating was designed to accommodate, which is known to occur in refineries.

Buckhurst studied polymer and paint chemistry at London University, moving on to begin his career with ICI Paints as a development chemist. Buckhurst later joined Jotun in London as technical support for the company’s U.K. operation. His career also includes moves to Norway to work for Jotun’s Cathodic Protection division, becoming Global Technical Sales Support Manager and gradually moving into working in marketing and project management, where he shifted gears into his current position as Global Concept Director.
