The courthouse is a poured-cement structure that shares its home with Sitka’s U.S. Post Office. The federal building was constructed in 1938 by the J.B. The project is estimated to cost between $100,000 and $500,000. Bids are due April 4.

Scope of the Coating Work

The awarded contractor will prepare and paint interior surfaces of the courthouse using an acrylic latex system. Surface preparations will include patching and fire-sealing any new and existing penetrations in the walls, floor and ceiling assemblies.

When completing work in the courtroom, the contractor is to prepare gypsum wall surfaces by methods of tape and smoothing. If any wall coverings or trim edges are disrupted during the demolition and preparation process, the contractor must re-glue and apply a touch-up coating as necessary. Once the room has been properly renovated and cleaned, the contractor may apply coatings to the walls as indicated. The owner-approved coating brand is Benjamin Moore.

In addition to renovations in the superior courtroom, the contractor must also upgrade the clerks counter. These upgrades will involve the demolition of the clerks station and counters. Once demolition has been completed and the are clean and free of dust, the contractor will apply coatings to interior wall surfaces.

Work is expected to be completed within 45 calendar days after award. This project will require a fabrication inspection.
