Rescue crews recently rushed to a commercial construction site in Miami-Dade, Florida, after reports said a man had been crushed by construction equipment.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded the scene near Miami International Airport around 3 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 26) and were able to pull the man free from the debris.

Witness reports say that a crane was carrying a load of metal poles when they came crashing down, pinning the man (whom police did not identify) underneath.

The victim was transported to a hospital and as of Friday evening was listed as critical condition; no updates have been reported.

Officials confirmed to Miami news station WSVN-TV that the case had been turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The company working on the site is Miami-based Pac Comm. Inc., which specializes in heavy civil construction for government and commercial clients, does not have any violations recorded over the past five years.
