Improvements Needed for CA Senior/Community Center

The City of Banning, California, is seeking proposals for 7,300 square feet of scheduled improvements to the Banning Community Center and Senior Center. The center serves the municipalities of Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Calimesa and Cherry Valley in Riverside County. The center includes a gymnasium, kitchen area and meeting rooms.

Bids are due Jan. 25. 

Scope of Work 

The work includes removing and replacing cast-in-place concrete for new exterior ramps, stairs and various interior flooring. Newly installed concrete surfaces will be cleaned by abrasive blast-cleaning and receive an acrylic-based cement-hardening system. The ramp will receive approximately 115 SF of an epoxy-based system.

The center serves the municipalities of Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Calimesa and Cherry Valley in Riverside County. The center includes a gymnasium, kitchen area and meeting rooms.

After completing concrete work, the new exterior stairs and ramp will have epoxy-coated steel handrails installed.

The contractor is also required to replace the roof. All damaged soffit wood trims, fascia and framing are to be replaced and recoated with an exterior treatment application to match the existing wood surfaces.

The center’s restroom facilities will also require renovation including replacing walls, ceilings and gypsum boards.  New ceilings and walls will be painted with an acrylic coating system. Interior wood surfaces and cabinets in the kitchen and various offices will be cleaned and coated with an alkyd-enamel system.

Owner-specified brands include Benjamin Moore, Comex Group, Duron, ICI Devoe, Glidden, PPG and Sherwin-Williams or approved equal.

Commencement of work is expected to be complete within 50 working days after an award is made.

The estimated cost of this project is $343,920.
