Specialty chemicals company Lanxess (Pittsburgh) has introduced an expanded line of iron oxide red pigments, known as New Red, which is part of the company's goal to expand the color potential of the pigments.

Manufactured using the Ningbo Process, the line includes new mid-range pigments Bayferrox 520, Bayferrox 5272, Bayferrox 525 and Bayferrox 530. New grades Bayferrox 510, Bayferrox TP 5278 and Bayferrox TP 5279 fall under yellow-shade red pigments family.

Specialty chemicals company Lanxess (Pittsburgh) has introduced an expanded line of iron oxide red pigments, known as New Red, which is part of the company's goal to expand the color potential of the pigments.

According to Lanxess, the use of effective milling reduces the presences of aggregates and agglomerates, with new grades being easily dispersed, even at low shear forces. The new red pigments are also reportedly usable at high loading levels. Coating systems that used the Bayferrox also only displayed slightly pseudoplastic behavior, noted the company.

The use of the Ningbo process in the development of the iron oxide pigments has led to a reduction in the residual, water-soluble salt content, which, in turn, makes the oxides usable for corrosion-resistant coatings.

“This new generation of iron oxide pigments is a perfect addition to the top-selling range that Lanxess has been manufacturing by the Laux process for over 90 years at its Krefeld-Uerdingen site,” said Stephan Spiegelhauer, head of Inorganic Pigments’ Paints & Coatings Competence Center.

“All the new reds fulfill the high quality demands of the paints and coatings industry and deliver high chromaticity and tinting strength.”

HoldTight® is a wet blasting additive that decreases the water’s surface tension, allowing it to get into the pores of the surface and remove ALL contamination, including salts, acids, abrasives, light oils, and greases. HoldTight® leaves behind zero unwanted residue, and evaporates with the water, providing a surface that is thoroughly clean and ready for a tightly adhered coating bond for up to 72 hours.
