Global coatings manufacturer AzkoNobel has named Maarten de Vries as its new chief financial officer just week after the cimpany detailed other management changes.

“Maarten brings a wealth of expertise to the company with a wide and varied background, including financial operations, managing growth and leading strategic M&A programs. I look forward to welcoming him to the team,” Thierry Vanlancker, AkzoNobel’s recently installed CEO, said.

Vanlancker went on to add that once de Vries is on board, temporary CFO Hans De Vriese will move onto becoming the Director of Planning and Transformation, where he will assist with transforming AkzoNobel into two businesses: Paints and Coatings and Specialty Chemicals.

The new CFO appointment is still subject to shareholder approval, and will be further discussed at the AkzoNobel Extraordinary General meeting to be scheduled later this year.

Management Changes

AkzoNobel announced changes in management personnel and structure, including the official appointment of Vanlancker to its Board of Management, in the wake of an Extraordinary General Meeting held Sept. 8.

Vanlancker went on to add that once de Vries is on board, temporary CFO Hans De Vriese will move onto becoming the Director of Planning and Transformation, where he will assist with transforming AkzoNobel into two businesses: Paints and Coatings and Specialty Chemicals.

Also at the Sept. 8 meeting, AkzoNobel announced that CFO Maëlys Castella would be taking a temporary leave of absence for health reasons.

Hans De Vriese will continue acting as temporary CFO until Maarten de Vries starts on January 1, 2018. Castella is expected to return after her leave of absence to take another senior management role.
